Impulse Introduces Tokotaelo

The time is finally here. Our ecommerce counterpart, Totokaelo (TOH-toh-KYE-oh), is live.

"Totokaelo is the same team, inventory, and headquarters as Impulse. It’s an extension of the philosophy, values, and style currently found in our brick-and-mortar store." - from 'About Totokaelo', Totokaelo.com.

I've been working on Totokaelo almost one year to the day. It has been an amazing project, and I am so proud and excited about the result.

A quick background: We have a strong following of clients who order over the telephone from the images posted online. So when it came time to grow Impulse, instead of opening a second store, I decided to push towards ecommerce. The challenge for me was to build a site that was as slick as the larger entities (Net-A-Porter, eLuxury, etc.), while still providing personal service and a special boutique experience for users. Essentially, I wanted to create the feel of Impulse, online.

The result is Totokaelo. The site is membership only; however, mailing list members and blog readers will all be accepted. Please specify on your 'Membership Request' that you are an Impulse buddy/client. (There is a question that asks “How did you hear of Totokaelo.com?”). The site is user driven, which means that it relies on YOU to have a voice and presence.

After being accepted as a member (which you will be; If not, let me know because it was a glitch) please set up your user profile and get started. I encourage you (and ask, as a favor...) to comment, interact, and upload a profile picture. The tone of the site, in regards to the level of participation, will be set early on.

Thank you for your support the past five years. Impulse has been growing like crazy, and I’m so pleased to know all of you. Launching an ecommerce site will not change things in the shop. Impulse will remain and the entire crew will be there. Our hope is that by providing a thorough idea of styles, available sizes, and item descriptions (washing instructions, fabric content) , Totokaelo will make it easier to shop at Impulse.

Our first love is you – our loyal following that has grown with us since 2003. To thank you, we’re offering FREE LOCAL SHIPPING and will offer RETURNS. So for those of you who have been telling us for years that getting to Fremont is a pain, we’ve done our best to remedy the situation.

Going forward, all email updates will go to Totokaelo.com members (vs. Impulse mailing list members) so become a member of Totokaelo! Our online presence will flip to Totokaelo.com. The ImpulseSeattle.com blog will remain for the next couple of months, however all new posts will be added to Totokaelo.com. You can view the Totokaelo.com blog without being a member.
